"Oliver Perez pitched for the San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates before joining the New York Mets late in the 2006 season. Perez pitched reasonably well during the Mets' pennant run, but he really made his mark in the playoffs, when he won Game Four of the NLCS and fired off six innings of four-hit, one run ball in Game Seven. Perez is off to a solid start in 2007, having won four games in a row in May and defeated crosstown rivals the Yankees in a mid-June contest.
